As a public reservoir, there are people of all walks of life visiting. Some take care not to litter and others do not care. Sometimes, boaters do not pay attention to the designated area for swimming, so it's prudent to stay far from the boundaries. There is ample parking and several nice play areas, however.
It's free, it's not too terribly far, my kids love it and ask to come here regularly, so for those reasons, I'll give it five stars.
The sand is a little coarse, there may be a good amount of stuff floating in the water, but hey, it's a beach in Ohio. My last visit I could see my feet while chin-deep in the water. There is a nice little playground with some better sand for the kids as well as bathrooms and a huge parking lot.
This can be a wonderful place to spend a summer day with the family. Park rules prohibit alcohol, which helps keep it friendly.
A nice place for family land locked from coastline to enjoy life near the water. They built a playground which I believe is new this year so nice that the kiddies can have their fun both on land and in the lake. Plenty of parking. Showers and clean bathrooms available. A place away from it all.
The swimming area has a gentle slope, with lots of area around 1-3 ft deep close to shore.
Keep three things in mind. One is that restroom facilities can be quite far away from the beach, depending on where you are. Two is that the only food and drink is what you bring, or what is available at predictably high prices from carts and trucks on-site. Three is that permanent grills are located by the parking, away from the beach, so bring a portable grill if you want to cook closer to the water.
My personal opinion is it's okay... It's not the beach. It gets really crowded and parking sucks sometimes. There are restaurants nearby, but I haven't seen much as far as right by the beach. Maybe I just didn't see it? Anyway, a snack shop or something ON the beach would be awesome.
